The Multi-Billion Dollar Massive Spy Agency You Haven't Heard Of
*Zero Hedge*: *More Dangerous Than The NSA? The Massive Spy Agency You Haven't Heard Of* If you’re one of the countless Americans who was distraught to learn of the revelations made by former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden, the mere idea that there might be yet another agency out there - perhaps just as powerful and much more intrusive - should give you goosebumps. Foreign Policy reports that the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, or NGA, is an obscure spy agency former President Barack Obama had a hard time wrapping his mind around back in 2009. Future Wars Will Be Dominated By Drones
(Photo Credit: DARPA) *Defense News: **DoD weapons designer: Swarming teams of drones will dominate future wars* WASHINGTON – Future wars will be fought with swarms of expendable, disaggregated, intelligent systems rather than the big, expensive weapon platforms the U.S. has relied on for fifty years, a top Pentagon weapons scientist asserted this week. William Roper, the lead of the Pentagon’s semi-secret Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO), made his prediction March 28, adding that he believes the Air Force will have a greater challenge adjusting to this new reality than the o... more »

"A Look to the Heavens"
“What's going on in the center of this spiral galaxy? Named the Sombrero Galaxy for its hat-like resemblance, M104 features a prominent dust lane and a bright halo of stars and globular clusters. Reasons for the Sombrero's hat-like appearance include an unusually large and extended central bulge of stars, and dark prominent dust lanes that appear in a disk that we see nearly edge-on. Billions of old stars cause the diffuse glow of the extended central bulge. Close inspection of the bulge in the above photograph shows many points of light that are actually globular clusters. *Click ... more »
"Consider the Following"
*"Consider the Following"* "Consider the following. We humans are social beings. We come into the world as the result of others' actions. We survive here in dependence on others. Whether we like it or not, there is hardly a moment of our lives when we do not benefit from others' activities. For this reason it is hardly surprising that most of our happiness arises in the context of our relationships with others. Nor is it so remarkable that our greatest joy should come when we are motivated by concern for others. But that is not all. We find that not only do altruistic actions brin... more »

The Three Inventories-- A Guest Post By The Woman Running Against Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy
*-by Wendy Reed, MPA* Americans appear energized for civic engagement-- in community organizations, political activity, and government offices-- but in our passion and urgency for change we must take time to do research, to evaluate facts, and to make informed choices. From the questions people ask me about my experience as a congressional candidate, I developed what I call the Three Inventories™. The Three Inventories include a Personal Inventory, a Skillset Inventory, and a Resources Inventory, and I will apply them in this article in three ways: considering civic engagement; c... more »
Northern Atlantic Storm Shows How Natural Causes Affect Arctic Sea Ice
A few years ago the climate alarmists were going hysterical about the sudden loss of Arctic Sea Ice. Alarmist claims of an ice free North Pole dominated the headlines. It’s been a little over four years since an “Arctic expert” claimed the North Pole would be ice-free by the summer of 2016. That never happened. When I … Continue reading "Northern Atlantic Storm Shows How Natural Causes Affect Arctic Sea Ice"

Shining in the Darkness for the MegaDrive/Genesis
I got into table top role playing games before my trusty MegaDrive came along, and so was attracted to them as RPGs drip-dripped onto the system in the early part of its life. The problem was as larger games with battery back up, they tended to weigh in with a heftier asking price. Seeing the second and third installments of the *Phantasy Star* series come with £60 and £50 price tags respectively (in early 90s money!) meant I mostly got my gaming jollies in other genres, though I did eventually pick up *Phantasy Star III*. Liberalism is a seductive ideology because it promises democracy, justice and individual happiness. He is accused of requesting more than $2.5 million of federally funded grants in violation of conflict-of-interest rules. This is not the first time Chavis has been targeted for financial impropriety. In 2012, an investigation by the state Fiscal Cr... more »

While the cat’s away
With Craig temporarily off-piste, or piste-off - I’m not quite sure - this site is likely to become more *Jewy* than some readers might find necessary. It might even make some of our readers piste-off too, but I make no apology. While the cat’s away and all that. Here are some things that have been on my mind for the last few days, then I’ll leave you alone. One of the issues that have been simmering away for quite a while is that faux academic symposium which is taking place in Cork, right now. *(Update*: More here. Paraguay's Congress Set On Fire By Rioters Over Re-Election Vote
*BBC:* *Paraguay congress set on fire as election protests turn deadly* Demonstrators in Paraguay have set fire to the country's parliament during violent protests against a bill that would lift presidential term limits. One activist was killed by a blow to the head which the opposition blamed on a rubber bullet fired by police. Under the 1992 constitution, introduced after the dictatorship, a head of state may only serve a single five-year term. But sitting President Horacio Cartes is trying to remove the restriction and run for re-election. Protesters were photographed smashing... more »

Antisemitism still going strong
With an agenda to promote diversity and social cohesion, the BBC necessarily turns a blind eye to the antisemitism within the Muslim community. It would be ridiculous to deny that hatred of Jews is the default position of Muslims, as even Mehdi Hasan, one of the most prominent offenders, has freely, (and rashly) admitted. The irony is that many of the high profile Muslims who mask their *visceral* antisemitism with the societally acceptable *‘intellectual’* anti- *Zionism,* are also claiming that Muslims are the new Jews. These are the people who complain of Islamophobia and caref... more »

*Russian Scientists: Greenhouse Gas Theory Dead, Global Cooling Coming* The above headline I have taken from here. I think it is misleading. The academic paper concerned ("Cosmic Rays, Solar Activity, and Changes in the Earth’s Climate" by Y. I. Stozhkov et al.) is fairly short and I have read it all several times. It does NOT mention CO2 and does NOT say that the Greenhouse Gas Theory is Dead. What the paper shows is a close correlation between cloud cover and the temperature of the near-surface atmosphere. Clouds cool us down, unsurprisingly. It then goes on to study what cau... more »

In Biblical Terms
For nearly fifty years, we have bought into a myth -- which we take to be as axiomatic as the sky is blue. Rutger Bregman writes: These days, politicians from the left to the right assume that most wealth is created at the top. By the visionaries, by the job creators, and by the people who have “made it”. By the go-getters oozing talent and entrepreneurialism that are helping to advance the whole world. Now, we may disagree about the extent to which success deserves to be rewarded – the philosophy of the left is that the strongest shoulders should bear the heaviest burden, while ... more »

A cat who went missing four years ago in California was reunited with its owner after amazingly turning up more than 2,000 miles away in Canada. Study: Marijuana Decreases Death Rates from Pain Killers by Over 30 Percent
Let me see now. We have a protocol that lowers the substantial death rate in the thousands from opioid overdose by a solid third while also significantly controlling pain. This represents a solid class action law suit for wrongful death against all agencies blocking medical marijuana use. Do we need to go there. Carolina Bays are Shock Liquefaction Impact Features
As i posted back in 2007 from my manuscript Paradigms Shift, the Carolina Bays are part of the evidence suite supporting the impact of a large comet onto the norther Ice Cap around 13,900 BP. That they were identified by others as likely caused by ballistic ice from the Ice Cap is very welcome. This is geology at its best. In defense of the administrative state
Ethical Technology - 20 hours ago
A few weeks back Steve Bannon, Trump’s Rasputin-like chief strategists, while in a panel discussion at CPAC laid out the agenda for the new administration. According to Bannon that agenda consisted of three parts re- establishing national security and sovereignty, economic nationalism, and what he called “the deconstruction of the administrative state.” It was the latter which Bannon’s comments suggested was behind Trump’s otherwise Bizzaro cabinet appointments where, for instance, a raging opponent of environmental protections- Scott Pruitt, could be named head of the EPA, and pr... more »
