Now, here's the thing: The Mound of Sound has every right to be horrified at the significance of global warming. He knows more than I do about it. According to David Suzuki, only the Green Party platform appears to take the problem as seriously as it deserves to be. That's why MoS is voting Green. And good for him. I first took issue with him though, when he decided to pompously and self-righteously accuse anyone thinking of voting for any other non-harper party as being complete moral failures, and, in fact, immoral monsters. People who couldn't make themselves believe that Green...more »
A senior judge, MPs and a member of the royal family all supported a Church of England bishop who escaped prosecution for sexual abuse 22 years ago, the Old Bailey has heard on Wednesday. Peter Ball, the former bishop of Lewes, East Sussex and friend of Prince Charles, was jailed for 32 months after he admitted sexually abusing 18 young men between 1977 and 1992. RT reports: The judge, Mr Justice Wilkie, said he had taken account of the harm Ball had caused to his victims but also considered testimony of many who wrote in support of his character. When he was first accused by a vict...more »

I just finished reading John Steckley's "White Lies About the Inuit" (University of Toronto Press). The book itself is somewhat disappointing as a read but it does have some very helpful information to combat at least two (bizarre) myths: His chapter "Fifty-Two Words for Snow", debunks the popular myth that Inuit languages have a zillion words for snow - I thought "aput" was sufficient -- and discusses Inuit languages; and His chapter, "Elders on Ice", debunks the myth that elder Inuit were abandoned to die as being "useless mouths." This last myth is specially odd to anyone w...more »
Good mornin' Darlins!!! Solar Update- we still as being told there is zero flare activity right now- not even a C class flare in the past 4 days. But the Geomagnetic storm has increased, kp7 and is now a G3 "Strong" Geomagnetic Storm as of last night. there was also a filament that ripped off- SO said that it's not going to be geoeffective, but I disagree. We still have two major coronal holes directly facing earth and the solar wind speeds are still high..... I strongly suspect that you may want to keep something for headaches on hand today, be careful driving, and expect some fu...more »

The Daily Mail yesterday had this report that oddly has still not made it to the BBC's news reporting. Maybe the BBC only cover The Mail's reports when they involve a Conservative Prime Minister and porcine rumours. The Mail's report http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3262220/UK-charity-considers-cutting-aid-Jungle-Calais-visiting-camp-deciding-migrants-no-real-reason-leave-home-country.html starts thus: 'The Bradford-based Human Relief Foundation has been running a project to help the 'refugees' at the makeshift camp and previously claimed they were all 'fleeing war and sig...more »
https://youtu.be/yi_zUF7kjQ0 I wonder if Jeremy Corbyn has any comment to make about the actions of his 'friends', tricky as he can't even say the word Israel at the Labour Party Friends of Israel event at the Labour Party Conference.
*We again ask you to be brave and take a giant leap of faith and fear not, for the time of fear is drawing to an end when one looks at the over-all view of man's journey back to the Source of All Life.* *And, what is this Source? * *Love, of course. Once uncovered and accepted within the human heart, a great awakening will occur and many will again regain the joy of living that radiates and infiltrates all life when it is allowed to and accepted as the natural state of the human-being.* *Open your hearts just briefly to this possibility and feel what could be if only Mankind wou...more »

Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com *FOX News*: *Report finds female Marines cannot meet some standards for special operations forces* A report conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps on integrating women into all military units concluded that even the top female troops likely cannot cut it in the special operations forces -- even though they typically have better disciplinary records and perform better at problem solving. A copy of the report, titled “United States Marine Corps Assessment of Women in Service Assignments,” was obtained by FoxNews.com. The 37-page document was pr...more »
*October 8, 2015* (Ulson Gunnar - NEO) - There have been now several alleged "violations" of Turkish airspace by Russian warplanes operating from within and across Syrian territory. Conflicting reports have come out regarding how these alleged violations are actually being interpreted and responded to by Turkey itself, with the United States and its well-oiled media machine claiming armed confrontation between the NATO member and Russia is imminent, while other sources claim Turkey and Russia are in close communication and apparent violations have been excused by Ankara. The eulogies for Denis Healey do slightly grate on me. I remember him as Chancellor of the Exchequer and his performance was as dismal as most Labour Chancellors. I wonder if people are remembering him only by the 'eyebrows' and the Mike Yarwood impression. In reality Denis Healey had been a member of the Communist Party. Had imposed high tax rates on 'the rich', not quite until until the pips squeaked. All but bankrupted the country with excessive public sector spending and general ineptitude. Had to run to the IMF to bail out the Country. A good question would be why an ex ...more »
As I listen to the BBC interview Conservatives including the Prime Minister, I do wonder why the Conservatives don't reply: Excuse me Evan/John/ANO, You keep saying that people are unhappy, that the country doesn't support these policies, but less than six months ago the Conservative Party won a General Election with an overall majority. If the Labour Party had cobbled together a coalition you'd be happy with that representing the country, so why not now? Are you biased against the Conservative Party? Then there are the people that the BBC invite to criticise Conservative annou...more »
*CNN: **Behind the scenes with the commander of Special Ops* Fort Bragg, North Carolina (CNN)Some days Special Operations missions in international hotspots end in success and accolades, as when SEAL Team Six took out Osama bin Laden. These are the missions that tend to be memorialized by Hollywood scriptwriters and shape the image of Special Ops forces in the minds of Americans. But some days end in tragedy and frustration. "The toughest day that I ever had was when we lost a helicopter with a (Navy) SEAL troop on it and a number of our Afghan partners," said Gen. Joe Votel, the...more »
*CNN:* *U.S. military is on its way to getting its Iron Man* (CNN)After an American commando died kicking in a door during a raid in Afghanistan, the top commander of U.S. Special Operations vowed to prevent similar tragedies. Two years later, the U.S. military is closer than ever to putting Iron Man on the front lines -- or at least something that closely mirrors the superhero's tech-forward suit of armor. Unlike Hollywood's, the suit won't give its operator the ability to fly, but the real-life body armor may have one leg up on the fictional version: The military's suit will be...more »

More than 120,000 Syrians now call Zaatari refugee camp home. BBC *Time:* *Refugee Camps Empty as Syrians Head for Europe* In early 2012, it was an anonymous patch of desert in the north of Jordan but by the end of 2013, it was a city of 156,000 Syrian refugees, the fourth biggest population center in the country. Now it has shrunk to almost one third of its former size as Syrians desperate for a better future migrate to other parts of the Middle East or attempt the dangerous journey to Europe. For those who made a successful business amid the despair, depopulation has hit them ha...more »

Why say “No” to a new UN Climate Treaty? 1. 25 years of Propaganda - The upcoming conference in Paris is the culmination of more than two decades of intensive (and very expensive) propagandizing and fear-mongering aimed at convincing the people of the world (especially in The West) that we must all submit to drastic global controls or face dreadful consequences from catastrophic anthropogenic (human- caused) global warming (CAGW). 2. Bogus ‘science’ collapsing -The Paris conference is probably the ‘last ditch stand’ for the climate alarmists because real ...more »
