The Poet: Anne Sexton, "Courage"

noreply@blogger.com (CoyotePrime) at Running 'Cause I Can't Fly - 18 minutes ago
*"Courage"* "It is in the small things we see it. The child's first step, as awesome as an earthquake. The first time you rode a bike, wallowing up the sidewalk. The first spanking when your heart went on a journey all alone. When they called you crybaby or poor or fatty or crazy and made you into an alien, you drank their acid and concealed it. Later, if you faced the death of bombs and bullets you did not do it with a banner, you did it with only a hat to cover your heart. You did not fondle the weakness inside you though it was there. Your courage was a small coal that you kept swallo... more »

How Cruz Plans To Win: Turning Out The Klan

I wouldn't bet the house on it, but I've thought from the very beginning that Ted Cruz would be the Republican candidate to face Bernie or Hillary. More recently, I came to realize that the GOP ticket would likely be Cruz/Fiorina. Last week I started getting the impression that I'm no longer alone in this assumption. George Will, for one, entertained the notion in a column he wrote for the *Washington Post*, referring to what Cruz has been up to as an audacious "base plus" strategy, which refutes assumptions about the importance of independent “swing” voters. Will defends him again... more »

The right to end your suffering [updated]

Peter Cresswell at Not PC - 3 hours ago
May we be cautiously optimistic that the right to voluntary euthanasia –to die at the time and manner of your choosing, if you wish --will finally be recognised in law in this country sometime soon? It is quite literally a lottery, but ACT’s David Seymour is promoting a private member’s Bill which, if drawn in the regular ballot, could legalise assisted dying, and end the unendurable. *In my view [says Seymour] it is politically, morally, legally and, in terms of public policy, the right thing to do.* And so it is. TPP: Secretly Negotiated And Minimally Reported. Putting A Nice Wool Hood Over The Eyes Of Americans

*By Noah* It’s safe to say that when Hillary Clinton finally announced, recently, that she was not supporting the Trans-Pacific Partnership or TPP as it is more routinely called, that that was the first time many Americans had ever heard of TPP. Why? Well, for one thing, the negotiations of this particular international trade pact have been held in near total secrecy. The other reason is that our nation’s weeknight news outlets have abdicated their responsibility, moral and otherwise, to inform the public about this agreement which will greatly impact their lives. *[image: Emoto]* This is an important observation. It confirms that the human spirit body which drives every cell in our our body and can be directed by our consciousness is able to direct individual molecules in their reaction choices. This was necessary for the spirit world to direct all life on Earth. I use the word direct because that is what is happening at the chemical reaction level and it has been identified as life force in the past. Once you understand that the information density of the spirit body is millions of times greater that the information density of atoms, a... more »

Suharto’s Purge, Indonesia’s Silence

We hold the developing world to a different standard and then the war with the threat of communism was not a straw man. Worse, Communism made a practice of massive genocide. Why have we forgotten that? If anything Vietnam was the exception more or less when they imposed reeducation camps intead which happens to be an acceptable choice. After all that is how we de Nazified Germany. Prior to that we had North Korea and Cuba and then there was Stalin. Thus the choice in the early sixties was pretty stark for Suharto when a large body of the population was at least sympathetic. ... more »

As tensions mount between the West Bank and East Jerusalem Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has promised a “harsh offensive” against Palestinian children. Salon.com reports: While grave violations against Palestinian children by Israeli forces are a cornerstone of Israel’s seemingly permanent military occupation of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, recent policy changes combined with systemic impunity will inevitably amplify an already dire situation for Palestinian children.
