Can Bernie Sanders Do An End Run Around Anti-Democracy Conservatives-- With A New National Holiday On Election Day?
Over the years there have been attempts to move election day to the
weekends so that people who work for a living can actually vote without a
lot of extra hassle. Louise Slaughter penned one last year. "Having
Election Day on a Tuesday," she said at the time, "is an outdated
requirement that simply does not comport with the schedules of modern
Americans. Instituting weekend voting would make it easier and more
convenient for Americans to exercise their right to vote, and would help
reduce lines at the polls and increase voter turnout." Although many
Republicans said they liked the... more »

towards a cruelty-free face: switching to products not tested on animals
I've begun changing my personal care products to cruelty-free: natural
products from companies that are better for the environment and don't test

After a lifetime of using conventional products, I was moved to think more

When I worked in the children's library, I often saw a book about animal
cruelty. It was not the one I wrote about here, about dogs, but a book in a

In fact, I can tell you that the map contains infinitely many coincidences

Meet JPMorgan Chase's Worst Nightmare
THIS is the main stream media giving the world transparency.... or at
least, a piece of transparency that many people haven't SEEN or
understood. Matt Taibbi has been covering a certain angles of the
financial collapse for a while, and though his information is incomplete,
it gives an excellent starting point for those who are looking for answers
as to "why", and explains some of the background that the regular new

Republican Victory And John McCain Is Good News For The A-10 Thunderbolt, Bad News For The F-35

in this week's midterm elections is that the A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft, a

That's because the plane has powerful friends among the Senate's new

But that creates a battle for resources with the Air Force's newest, and
most expensive project, the Lockheed Martin F-35.

The Kerch had suffered a series of mishaps during its decades in service,
the report said, adding that the ship had an “unlucky” reputation among

Virtual reality helps to build Royal Navy ships
Workers on the ship design team at BAE Systems in Portsmouth have started
using a 3D graphics system which allows people to walk through a
computer-generated version of a warship before it has even been built.
It means engineers can spot design flaws and safety issues long before the
steel is cut, potentially preventing costly design changes later on.
The system can also be used by sailors and safety inspectors to give their
input on the design of a warship.

Australian jobs promise as Sweden’s Saab Group bids for Navy’s $20 billion plus submarine project
[image: Gotland class SSK]Swedish defence giant Saab Group has launched an
audacious bid to build the Australian navy’s future submarine.
In a move that could mean thousands of jobs for South Australia and other
states, industry sources have told News Corp Australia that Saab Group has
presented a three-pronged strategy to secure the $20 billion plus Federal
Government contract.
It includes a lower price than its competitors and a smooth flow of
Japanese submarine technology from the Soryu Class boat, because Sweden is
a partner in the Japanese project.

Venezuela, for example, has burned through billions of dollars, leaving its

downplaying the threat from Islamism.
Stories which they seem to fear might harm relations with the 'Muslim

Take this morning for example.
Contrast the news priorities of the ITV, Sky and BBC news website. Both ITV
and Sky are leading with the alleged Remembrance Day terror plot. Not so
the BBC, which is leading with EU-related trouble for the Tories.

poverty, American test scores are at the top of the world. Our overall
