China's Double Game on Terrorism

As the U.S. and its allies were reflecting on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 atrocities, China's Communist regime manipulated the occasion to present itself as a victim of Islamic extremism. Beijing also accused the U.S. of practicing double standards by not giving unqualified support to its military offensive against what it calls "Muslim separatism" in northwest China. It insisted this campaign is an integral component of the war on terror.

( 'Imitation is the sincerest form of Flattery'  in the report of Propaganda Today. Like today's NATO occupation of Afghanistan, the USSR cited the need to staunch Islamic extremism as a cause of Occupation. The Taliban...are Saudi generated... and hate mainstream Muslims as much or more than any other group. )

The American Historical Association produced the G.I. Roundtable Series to help win World War II. Or so they were led to believe. In fact the U.S. Army sought the pamphlets as part of a larger effort to prepare for the transition to the postwar world, and represent a novel effort at social control.

Defiant Ahmadinejad prompts UN walkout

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran's president, has accused the United States of using the September 11, 2001, attacks as a pretext to launch wars on Iraq and Afghanistan.
He also attacked the US for its history of slavery, causing two world wars, using a nuclear bomb against "defenceless people," and imposing and supporting military dictatorships and totalitarian regimes on Asian, African and Latin American nations.
Without naming any country, the Iranian leader strongly attacked the role of the US and its allies in wars and the financial crisis and called on major powers to pay reparations for slavery.
"They officially support racism," Ahmadinejad said. "They weaken countries through military intervention and destroy their infrastructures, in order to plunder their resources by making them all the more dependent."

Iranian President Offers Nukes Compromise to U.S.
( Any assessment should recognize that Iran has signed an international treaty whose conditions circumscribe negotiating tactics and possible offers. Meanwhile, the U.S. position is clear : the NPT TRAP. )

 All alone on Israel island

Solitude and Absurdity. Perhaps no two other words better described the scene at the United Nations earlier this year when US Ambassador Susan Rice raised her hand with a reluctant expression on her face to veto a Security Council resolution condemning Israeli colonial expansion. Fourteen of the fifteen members of the UN's most important body voted for this resolution save the United States.

The absurdity? The resolution was pieced together using language from speeches and statements American principals have made regarding Israel's illegal colonies. Susan Rice was effectively vetoing American policy and then found herself in the peculiar position of explaining why the US was against settlements despite vetoing the resolution.

Since 1972 the United States has been the single, solitary veto on 42 Security Council resolutions condemning Israeli violations of international law or human rights. Now, in light of the Arab uprisings and a recalcitrant Netanyahu government hell-bent on expanding Israeli colonies despite state US policy, Israel Island is not the comfortable destination it used to be.

So why would the Palestinians, who don't want to alienate the United States, force the question by bringing their application to the Security Council?

It's Official: Obama Has Deported More Than A Million Unauthorized Immigrants

The Obama administration had deported about 1.06 million as of September 12, against 1.57 million in Bush's two full presidential terms.
That's right, Obama is on the verge of deporting more undocumented immigrants in a single term than Bush did his full eight years in office.

Sick Gulf residents continue to blame BP

Dr Wilma Subra, a chemist in New Iberia, Louisiana, has tested the blood of BP cleanup workers and residents.
"Ethylbenzene, m,p-Xylene and hexane are volatile organic chemicals that are present in the BP crude oil," Subra explained to Al Jazeera. "The acute impacts of these chemicals include nose and throat irritation, coughing, wheezing, lung irritation, dizziness, light-headedness, nausea and vomiting."
Subra explained that exposure has been long enough to create long-term effects, such as "liver damage, kidney damage, and damage to the nervous system. So the presence of these chemicals in the blood indicates exposure".
Testing by Subra has also revealed BP's chemicals are present "in coastal soil sediment, wetlands, and in crab, oyster and mussel tissues".
Pathways of exposure to the dispersants are inhalation, ingestion, and skin and eye contact. Symptoms of exposure include headaches, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pains, chest pains, respiratory system damage, skin sensitisation, hypertension, central nervous system depression, neurotoxic effects, genetic mutations, cardiac arrhythmia, and cardiovascular damage. The chemicals can also cause birth defects, mutations, and cancer.
