Escalation Of A Humanitarian War
Wednesday, April 27, 2011 11:00 AM
The Western intervention in Libya has morphed from a "no-fly zone" into a continuous bombing campaign--with new threats of the use of ground troops

Beware: Widespread Mission Creep Underway in Libya

One should be wary about this intervention, whether or not one believes it is justified.
However one views the morality of the Libyan “intervention,” the murkiness of its objectives and the rapid speed with which the conflict has escalated should offer deep misgivings about the ostensibly humanitarian venture.

Consider the bait-and-switch. The U.S. role in the intervention was sold to the American people as a very limited one: we'd help enforce a no-fly zone. In his speech on Monday, Obama said that "broadening our military mission to include regime change would be a mistake." A day later, Senator Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina – a member of the Senate Armed Forces Committee -- told CNN, "the goal of this country is to replace Gadhafi." That same day, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters, "Gadhafi has lost the legitimacy to lead, so we believe he must go. We're working with the international community to try to achieve that outcome.”

Another Shocking UN cover up about Libya
Monday, April 25, 2011 7:29 PM
The Council was about to vote on a report that affirmed and praised Libya and Colonel Ghaddafi for THEIR HUMAN RIGHTS RECORD for the nation's treatment of religious minorities, and the "human rights training" received by security forces.
Submitted by John Farnham to World   |
The empire and its minions could not get rid of Ghaddafi by staging a revolt under the utterly absurd cloak of "peaceful protests" ("We are losing the information war" - Hillary Clinton. Ms. Clinton lies do not work when people are searching for truth) so they had to resort to bombs, violence, brute force.
The report said that the Ghaddafi government protected "not only political rights, but also economic, educational, social and cultural rights," and praised it for the nation's treatment of religious minorities, and the "human rights training" received by security forces.

It was to be approved at a vote later this month. Did something suddenly happen over night? If you believe it did, I have a bridge to sell you.

No less than 46 delegations to the controversial Human Rights Council made positive comments, with rare criticism from, who else, the United States.

They have moved to postpone the vote. Anyone wonder why? Let everyone, particularly those in positions of power, take notice. We know why. How embarrassing for the dogs of war that vote would be if it were held honestly, no pressure, no blackmail, no bribes.  How embarrassing...first the best standard of living in Africa and now a commendation for human rights practices.  What a terrible dictator Colonel Ghaddafi is!

The documents, which date from 2002 to 2008, also unveil shocking accounts of innocent people, including farmers, chefs and drivers who were sold to US forces.
Their captors detained them because they believed they could yet give up useful information, or because they were simply unable to admit that they should have been released.
The establishment of Guantanamo Bay months after the 9/11,  sparked a controversial debate around techniques used to obtain information* from detainees, including water-boarding, stress positions and sleep deprivation.
The dossiers, prepared under the Bush administration, have remained silent about such tactics, according to the New York Times.

Our government is $14.3 trillion in debt. The 2011 budget is approximately $3.8 trillion. The budget deficit is $1.5 trillion. And our solons in Washington are smugly bragging about their "fiercely negotiated cut of $37.8 billion?" Is it hyperbole to say these minds are obsessed with the momentary, the picayune, the superficial, and the irrelevant? Is it unfair to declare them to be pygmies? I think not.

Soda loses its fizz - The BANNING of Soda in Boston:  The Boston Globe

The banning of soda in parts of Boston,MA...this will reverse obesity?..I think not
Submitted by  . to US Politics & Gov't   |
Comment
It is known that the takeover of supplying the soda market by special interests promoting the use of corn based products as sweeteners has had effects which are negative on health and a risk for causing obesity. When marketing came along with artificial sweeteners, thing got worse, not better. And when Aspertame was 'outed' as having serious negative effects - literally being compared to pharmaceutical warfare on the mind - it was 'replaced' by a cousin with even worse effects.
Even when you unload Search on the topic the results avoid highlighting these facts ! You have to knowingly investigate the claims of people like Dr. Mercola and Mike Adams the 'health ranger' at Natural News - who has appeared in collaboration with Alex Jones on his show re: the nuclear meltdowns in Japan among many many other topics - that you start to appreciate the total inadequacy of conventional 'news' to keep one abreast of world events.
Repeatedly I try to encourage people to capitalize on the information at Care 2 on its headlined storyboards by excellent writers and of the information available in forums.
And I haven't had much success promoting my own Search files because - well, to be blunt, they must be inconvenient and were never intended as more than illustrations on how to build news gathering facilities for alternative news - of which there are a bunch of utilities like Netvibes and iGoogle and Google Reader to use.
The tools are out there. Even a change to a different Search engine like Info.com can make a difference, though I find utilities based around Diigo social bookmarking , Facebook,Yoono, Friendfeed and Feedly give me more information than is convenient to process in the aggregate when combined with My Opera and the Dashboard at Blogger..
I'm at opitslinkfest.blogspot.com The Topical Index highlights introductory files and Opit Online shows some of what I've tried. I still make startling discoveries years after finding Third World Traveler and Consortium News and a whole mess of news at various places whose feeds I sometimes can't highlight the way I'd wish simply because they produce too much data.
Besides : if you have a connection that will keep up, Youtube is unbeatable.
