There’s No Stopping Gaia Now – The 5D Shift Moves Through the Gears

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 4 minutes ago
From my perspective the fifth dimension would be orthogonal to the three we understand or perhaps orthogonal to the time dimension. The latter makes sense as it plausibly is the one best manipulated by conspicuousness. We already know that it is likely that we can manipulate time, this simply makes it part of out conscious capability or mindfulness. Yet i also suspect that deep maturity is necessary for this and that few will be able to do this or have permission. In fact the fifth dimension may be truly continuous in the mathematical sense and synonymous to our idea of th... more »

New Frontiers in Psychedelic Research

Good review of our present understanding of the mind. Various drugs are revealing a lot of new concepts and it is turning out to be productive. I do not think any of the conclusions presented here are satisfactory. I think instead that the mind perceives and then adjusts Such a progress through perception opens many pages to associate with any new experience. Emotional over lays are used to handle the Necessity of choice. That is what makes it all interesting and difficult to rationalize.. . *New Frontiers in Psychedelic Research* *October 3rd, 2017* *By Anthony Tyler* *G... more »

I used to think gun control was the answer. My research told me otherwise.

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 4 minutes ago
I for one consider gun control a complete waste of time and resources. However i do think that mandatory weapons training for all who wish to buy and to own a weapon is worthwhile. Just as self restraint training with martial arts. I would apply this to all farm boys in particular. Then i would insist on a refresher every five years in which the person and his reflexes are checked out. Thus all gun owners can be expected to be very safe and responsible with weapons. I suspect that the Swiss essentially do that. Having all weapons secured under lock and key at a range is ... more »

A ‘humanely’ killed animal is still killed – and that’s wrong?

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 4 minutes ago
[image: Hereford cattle arrive at a meat processing plant. Photo by Daniel Garcia/Getty] We owe all living creatures an obligation to be kind because the negation reflects on our own ability to improve morally or eliminate karma. Yet that is where it ends. Arguments against animal husbandry are self negating. After all, without us, all cattle, all chickens and all domesticated anything would be simply extinct. All of us live in order to die and that includes the whole web of life. The spirit body which is apparently eternal or the next best thing supports the ...more »

An Exercise for My Readers

Greg Mankiw at Greg Mankiw's Blog - 11 hours ago
There has been a lot of discussion lately about how much a cut in the tax on capital will increase wages. So I thought I would pose a relevant exercise for my readers. A small open economy has the production function y = f(k), where y is output per worker and k is capital per worker. Wages are set by the marginal product of labor, which (by Euler's theorem) equals w = f(k) -f '(k)*k. We cut the tax rate t. Because f '(k)*k is the tax ba...more »

Science Fiction & Prediction

David Brin at CONTRARY BRIN - 14 hours ago
Let's take a breath and look longer term. I am inspired after we watched the (mostly) very good "Bladerunner 2049" flick, last night. More on that, below. *== Probing the territory in front of us ==* How does Science Fiction do at prediction? From Star Trek to 2001 and The Matrix, this article from The Guardian takes a look at how well -- or poorly -- science fiction films predicted and portrayed the next generation of computers, robots and technological innovation. In this essay - Why Science-Fiction Writers Couldn’t Imagine the Internet, Lawrence Krauss (author of the recently... more »

A Theory Of Everything, A One Inch Equation With Predictions That Agree With Observations and GR=QFT

Hontas Farmer at Science 2.0 - Physical Sciences - 14 hours ago
The Theory of Everything may be a mathematically simple model which is rich in implications and more difficult in concepts than calculations. The model I have just published as a candidate theory of everything is just such a model. String theory on the other hand is simple in concept but difficult in calculations. The concept of my model is that we treat all energy the same way. This is a MASSIVE oversimplification. All the scientific details for any experts that have questions are in the latest paper and the references to it. read more

Was Saturday's Bomb Attack In Mogadishu That Claimed 300 Lives An Act Of Revenge Against The U.S.?

Civilians evacuate from the scene of an explosion in Mogadishu, Somalia. Feisal Omar/Reuters *The Guardian*: *Somalia bombing may have been revenge for botched US-led operation* Officials investigating attack that killed more than 300 people believe the bomber may have been motivated by desire for revenge for a raid in August The man who killed more than 300 people with a truck bomb in the centre of Mogadishu on Saturday was a former soldier in Somalia’s army whose home town was raided by local troops and US special forces two months ago in a controversial operation in which 10 c... more »

Could China's Aircraft Carrier Killer Missiles 'Sink' the U.S. Navy?

Harry J. Kazianis at The National Interest - 14 hours ago
*Harry J. Kazianis* *Security, Asia* Or are they just a myth? Question: how much should America or anyone else fear China's supposed super missile, the DF-21D or DF-26? The “carrier-killer” has been a favorite topic of mine for some time now. The weapons are launched from a mobile truck-mounted launcher into the atmosphere, with most likely over-the-horizon radar, satellite tracking and possibly unmanned aerial vehicles each providing guidance to a target in the open oceans. It also incorporates a maneuverable warhead, or MaRV, to help find its target. The DF-21D would be inst... more »

A lot of exciting medical "discoveries" may be false

Peter at Bayou Renaissance Man - 15 hours ago
Courtesy of a link at Vox's place, I came across this very troubling article . Researchers warn that large parts of biomedical science could be invalid due to a cascading history of flawed data in a systemic failure going back decades. A new investigation reveals more than 30,000 published scientific studies could be compromised by their use of misidentified cell lines, owing to so-called immortal cells contaminating other research cultures in the lab. The problem is as serious as it is simple: researchers studying lung cancer publish a new paper, only it turns out the tissue they ...more »

“The North Korea Reframe”

*“The North Korea Reframe”* by Scott Adams “North Korea is building nukes and ICBMs to prevent the United States from attacking. Meanwhile, the United States does not want to attack North Korea. And yet we find ourselves at the brink of nuclear war while not actually having a root problem on which we disagree. They don’t want to be attacked and we don’t want to attack them. Doesn’t that seem solvable? The problem, as I see it, is psychology more than weaponry. As long as North Korea sees the United States as a military threat, expect North Korea to keep upgrading their nuclear arse... more »

A gold star mother is confirming what Congresswoman Frederica Wilson told us yesterday -- that President Trump was disrespectful in a phone call to her daughter-in-law: The mother of a soldier killed in an ambush in Africa said Wednesday that President Trump “did disrespect my son” with remarks in a condolence telephone call. Sgt. La David T. Johnson's mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, told The Washington Post that she was present during the call from the White House on Tuesday to Johnson's widow, Myeshia Johnson. Johnson's mother also stood by an account of the call from Rep. Frederi... more »

*"Fraud, Exploitation and Collusion: * *America's Pharmaceutical Industry"* by Charles Hugh Smith "The theme this week is The Rot Within. The rot within manifested by the pharmaceutical industry almost defies description. America's Pharmaceutical industry takes pride of place in this week's theme of The Rot Within, as the industry has raised fraud, exploitation and collusion to systemic perfection. What other industry can routinely kill hundreds of thousands of Americans and suffer no blowback? Only recently has the toll of needless deaths from the opioid pandemic finally roused a ... more »
