This Is the Secret Way You Could Kill an F-35 and F-22 Stealth Fighter

Dave Majumdar at The National Interest - 3 hours ago
*Dave Majumdar* *Security, * Could this work? *With a missile warhead large enough, the range resolution does not have to be precise. For example, the now antiquated S-75 Dvina—known in NATO parlance as the SA-2 Guideline—has a 440-pound warhead with a lethal radius of more than 100 feet. Thus, a notional twenty-microsecond compressed pulse with a range resolution of 150 feet should have the range resolution to get the warhead close enough—according to Pietrucha’s theory.* The United States has poured ten of billions of dollars into developing fifth-generation stealth fighters ... more »

America Could Win a War against Russia and China (but at What Cost?)

Dave Majumdar at The National Interest - 10 hours ago
*Dave Majumdar* *Security, Europe* The U.S. military needs to be able to wage a high-end war. *“If we get into one of those conflicts, we’ll win, but it going to take a lot longer than we’d like and it’s going to cost a lot more in terms of dollars and in casualties.”* The United States military is not ready to confront a peer-level threat such as Russia or China in a high-end conflict. As it currently stands, while the United States would ultimately prevail in a hypothetical high-end war, Washington would pay a high price in blood and treasure. That’s what the nation’s top unif... more »

China and Russia Are Narrowing the Gap with America's Military

Dave Majumdar at The National Interest - 10 hours ago
*Dave Majumdar* *Security, Asia* America's military edge is not what it used to be. *“We know who our adversaries and we also know what hardware they’re putting out there,” Darrah said. “This isn’t trivial, they are actually putting out capabilities—it isn’t a science experiment any more–it’s real hardware, it’s really flying, it’s really capable.”* America’s enemies are rapidly catching up and in some cases exceeding the United States in terms of military technology, according to a senior U.S. Navy official. In some cases, while it took the United States decades to master certa... more »

WHY WE SHOULD ABOLISH THE DEBT CEILING Congressional Democrats...

Robert Reich - 12 hours ago
*WHY WE SHOULD ABOLISH THE DEBT CEILING * Congressional Democrats have pulled a fast one on Republicans by striking a deal with Trump to raise the federal debt ceiling only until the end of the year. This will give them bargaining leverage in December to strike a bigger bargain with Republicans: Democrats will agree to raise the debt ceiling then in return for Republican cooperation on legalizing Dreamers (unauthorized immigrants brought into the U.S. as children), making small but necessary fixes in the Affordable Care act, and other things Democrats seek.
