US Meddling in Thailand Boosts Bangkok-Moscow Ties
*May 4, 2016* (Tony Cartalucci - NEO) - The so-called "Pivot to Asia" serving as the current underpinning of American foreign policy in Asia has been repeatedly exposed as a continuation of a decades-old cynical region-wide US gambit to encircle and contain China while establishing military, sociopolitical, and economic hegemony over China's neighbors, particularly those in East and Southeast Asia. US proxies have long held power in the Philippines and Japan, while Myanmar has recently found itself under direct Western influence through US-British proxy Aung San Suu Kyi and her arm... more »
Prince Assistant Says He Was Healthy, “His Death Makes No Sense”
Prince’s former assistant, Mariah Brown, has said that Prince appeared to be completely healthy and energetic just moments before his death – hinting that she doesn’t believe that Prince died a natural death. Brown says that Prince never drunk alcohol and didn’t do any drugs, “he was a very, very healthy person. … That man has more energy than me, and anyone I know,” she told the Associated Press. “The whole death didn’t make sense to me. … He never came across as sick, or anything like that, ” adding weight to claims that Prince may have been killed by somebody as police continue ...more »
Student Arrested After Using $2 Dollar Bill To Buy Lunch At School
An eight-grader students was apprehended by cops after he was reported to police by the school for attempting to use a $2 dollar bill to pay for his chicken nugget lunch as a school in Houston. School officials, cafeteria workers and police did not realise that the $2 dollar bill was, in fact, legal tender. The unusual $2 dollar bill was first issued in the early 20th century and was produced up until 1966 where it was discontinued, apart from a reissue ten years later. The bills have a picture of Thomas Jefferson on the front and a reproduction of The Declaration of Independence b... more »
Watchdog Says ISIS May Be Making Chemical Weapons
A government watchdog has warned that there are “extremely worrying” signs that ISIS might be developing chemical weapons of its own. Director General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Ahmet Uzumcu said that ISIS may already be using such weapons in Iraq and Syria. Presstv.com reports: Uzumcu said fact-finding teams from The Hague-based watchdog have discovered evidence that suggest the use of sulfur mustard in attacks in the two crisis-hit Arab countries. “Although they could not attribute this to Daesh… there are strong suspicions that they may ha...more »
Measurements are fundamentally irreversible
I was recently exposed to the brutal misconception that "measurements could or should be fundamentally reversible" promoted by several well-known folks but let me only mention two prominent ones: Leonard Susskind's latest paper and a 2002 talk by Freeman Dyson who argued that quantum mechanics was "incomplete" at Wheeler's 90th birthday party. These men and others realize that the founders of quantum mechanics have postulated that the measurement is irreversible (e.g. whole chapters of books by von Neumann were dedicated to the irreversibility of the measurement); and they seem to r... more »
Last day of campaigning ahead of elections across UK per BBC News
There's a fascinating bit at the end of this BBC report http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36195498 'Labour candidate Sadiq Khan urged Londoners to choose "hope over fear" and played down suggestions he would be affected by the party's recent troubles, saying: "You won't see Jeremy Corbyn's name or Ken Livingstone's name" on the ballot paper. BBC Newsnight's political editor Nick Watt says Mr Khan plans to keep Mr Corbyn away from his victory celebrations should he prevail and the two men would not be seen together for several days.' Researchers Discover Bacteria That Produces Pure Gold
[image: Researchers Discover Bacteria That Produces Pure Gold] This was suggested as a proper explanation for much placer gold many years ago but was then never followed up on. Rather clearly though the gold is extracted directly from the rock through the natural chemical reactions that produce gold chloride. This then migrates into water systems and the oxidizing environment of the surface. The bacteria the feed on the gold chloride to produce gold dust and even nuggets totally independent of rock itself. Thus actual gold content of the rock could be scant an... more »
The Supervolcano That Can Devastate Europe Is Showing Signs of Awakening
This is an ordinary volcano that has produced a caldera and nothing else. Unless someone can link it to miles of outflow it is only an annoyance at best. It is an outlier of the Alpine mountain uplift and the volcanic on the other side of the alps. Now we have activity that could well mean eruptive events. Still a while to wait and it is just as likely to slip back into dormancy. It also reminds that no volcano is really dormant permanently. *The Supervolcano That Can Devastate Europe Is Showing Signs of Awakening* *Jesus Diaz1/02/12 11:00am* *http://gizmodo.com... more »
Why the Chattahoochee-Flint-Apalachicola River System is in such a Mess
*[image: ChattahoocheeRiver-POOF]* This history of a river basin has been repeated many times and it is only during the past thirty years that both environment and archaeology has been at least addressed. The present dispensation is actually unsatisfactory because land use is still planned in and then the environmental and archaeologic issues are addressed perhaps.Obviously in this case a massive amount of damage was produced that has largely destroyed the record or at best buried it. Mostly buried i suspect. All river basins need to be carefully and completely mapped prior to la... more »
Scientists Have found a Mysterious Boiling River Straight out of Amazonian Legend
Boiling rivers are not particularly unique as we have one recently near Yellowstone. Yet this one is substantial and pretty permanent. This makes it an excellent prospect for recreational applications aimed at the global tourist trade.. It will obviously demand an investment in infrastructure and access, but like Niagara Falls and Banff springs in Canada the pay off is perpetual and easily accommodates tourist traffic. I am usually not one to say this, but the great natural locations are always attracting tourists and accommodation is the best solution. Peru has many except... more »
Scientists Just Discovered a 1,000-km-long Coral Reef at the Mouth of the Amazon
First off, i find it highly unlikely that this was not well known to local mariners. The depth is not that exceptional. What it to be understood though is that our continental shelf can now be mapped in fine detail and that the apparent geology can be identified. I will go much further and insist that it must be done. All pre - Pleistocene Nonconformity humanity ( Pre 12900 BP ) lived on this shelf and we need to identify as much as possible. The actual flooding of this shelf then took thousands of years until fairly recently or around three thousand years ago. there will b... more »
1890's Cryptid: Was A Mothman Captured in Quebec, Canada?
What makes this report so very important is that we have seen glimpses of this same creature in a number of later reports. I have naturally dismissed the monkey face and have never seen a true tail associated with a separate feather tail although it is there in the fossil record and also glimpsed in reports. That is actually my real clue. This is a transitional creature between Dinosaurs, Reptile - mammal and true birds. Its sheer size is what has allowed it to sustain itself through millions of years. Remember the platypus which gives us the same proble... more »
Coded Electrons
My theoretical work suggests that an electron or for that matter a near neutral electron locked pairing will have over 1200 to 2400 axis that can act as pivots for two dimensional photon strips. As the strips themselves are effective Mobius strips they can actually code any number. Any electron will then have several hundred to thousands of such strips to work with. All this implies that an electron can be coded with a massive amount of information or at least a serial number. The inferences from this is huge. It means that the light body processor controlling a cell and it... more »
Why Obamacare Is Failing at "Universal Coverage"
When this turkey was put together its failure was assured. There is a right way and a wrong way to create universal coverage and it not by catering to the whims of politicians or the agendas of insurance companies. It has also been done many times elsewhere all at far less cost. Right now it will collapse of its own weight whilevdamaging most ofwhat is in place. Trump is likely to have the job of fixing this and he has already made up his mind on just how to do it. My only advice would be to dump the administration onto the States to provide competition at that level.. *Why O... more »
Elk Hunter Encounters Bigfoot in Big Hole Mountains
This is an extensive oral report made by an experienced elk hunter. It was night time and the hunter was riding back out of his jump off point for hunting. The Sasquatch appears to have been terrified by the sight of what he saw as a huge four legged creature and began screaming for his parent. That is an interpretation anyway. Better a track confirmed that it was a Bigfoot and that nicely eliminates the alternative of the Giant sloth.. Other evidence conforms completely to a Bigfoot interpretation. In addition a second sighting took place three days earlier and twenty mile ... more »
40 Volcanoes Are Erupting Right Now, And 34 Of Them Are Along The Ring Of Fire
This item is written up in an alarmist style but let us go with that and look at the content to see what we have. What needs to be said though is that global volcanism happens to be cyclic in nature with apparent hot zones every few centuries. Unless we had a two thousand year inventory all conjectures are tentative. Activity has risen and we are seeing activations taking place which suggests that a lot of molten rock is on the move. Yet a lot of it early going and not much to concerned with. A lot has been said about the Yellow stone super volcano but a full eruptive phas... more »
What Became of Atlantis: The Flood from Heaven with Brad Yoon
I have had a lot to say on this topic and presently support the conjecture that the event took place 1159 BC and maximally involve the submergence of Lyonesse, Azores, Bahama Bank and the Cuban Archepeligo. The event of Comet Clovis acted to set up this subsidence and the actual subsidence could have happened in stages thousands of years apart. This item confirms that scholarship is now catching up to the importance of Comet Clovis. I discovered the event before 2004 when scant evidence existed. A Senator Just Went on 60 Minutes Claiming the 9/11 Attackers Had 'Support from Within the US'
There has developed a background of speculation regarding 9/11 that generally tries to tie American agencies into the origination of the event. I find most of it an exercise in stretching a whole cloth over recalcitrant facts to make a pretty picture. So while i am aware of these conspiracy theories i also do not get too excited about them. In fact i prefer to wait for the whole stew to digest well in time and space before i will attempt to review the evidence. My experience is ... more »
Breatharianism: Science Examines People Who Claim Not To Eat & Here’s What They Found
My working conjecture is that our light body is capable of absorbing vast amounts of ultraviolet radiation and then using it to provide physical energy to the body. Such a system once turned on would conserve and reuse all physical materials and demand scant augmentation if any at all. Obviously turning this system on is not easy but it appears possible if we give credence to the claims here and from light eaters. Panama Papers Show how Easy it is to Finance Terror Using U.S. Shell Companies
In the event, what is rarely understood is that corporate law establishes the existence of a free person in law. A guiding mind can then decide to establish such a free person to undertake a given enterprise in any tax jurisdiction he wishes. That usually means where it is best to do so. There are plenty of good business reasons for doing just that as there are plenty of good business reasons for not having were the guiding mind actually lives. A simple example is patent rights. GOP Leaders Are Preparing to Submit to Donald Trump
When Trump first announced for the presidency, i thought that his chances would be excellent. While it was obvious that there were plenty of unknowns around his run, it was also clear that he had serious brand recognition which all his competitors lacked completely and i learned a long time ago that in politics the voters really have to at least be able to recognize your name. Thus massive advertising was unnecessary in his case because it was already a done deal. What happened after that though was a brilliant strategic campaign. He understood two things. First, that playing... more »
What Condition My Condition Is In With John Maudlin
What this describes is a global slow down in capital goods coming from the retreat of the Oil industry.Yet the real problem is that the economy is badly distorted by the massive amounts of reral cash running around the world searching for a safe haven. You buy stocks at high prices because negative interest rates or just zero forces you there. This is no bankers idea of prudence but that is today's choice. Why Bernie's Right About Glass-Steagall
Of course he is right as any moran who wishes to explore the historic record can see. When i saw that notice I personally knew that the time bomb had been set for about eight years down the road. That was the historic cycle that existed up to 1929 when it went beyond been fixable. It then was all possible because brokers could be bankers and there is no more conflicting mind sets. Would you r... more »

*THE LEFT’S WAR ON FREE SPEECH IN CALIFORNIA, COLLEGE CAMPUSES AND BEYOND* As bloody images roll in from Costa Mesa, Calif. where hard left protesters attacked supporters exiting a Donald Trump rally, the question that presents itself is, “How did things deteriorate to this point?” The respect for free speech was once sacrosanct, to the point that liberals of a bygone era would repeat the bromide, “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.” But as seen in Costa Mesa, one can easily conclude that the sentiment is no longer widely he... more »

Job Growth Doesn’t Mean We’re Getting Richer
*Guest post by Ryan McMaken* [image: worker2_0]In response to recent claims by the Obama administration and others that “millions of jobs” have recently been created, I examined the data here to see if the claims were true. It turns out that job growth since the 2008 recession has actually been quite weak, and hardly something to boast about. Nevertheless, our conclusions from these analyses tend to rest on the idea that job growth is synonymous with gains in wealth and economic prosperity. But is that a good assumption? In an unhampered market, the answer would be no, for ... more »

Security In Iraq, Apr 22-28, 2016
Violence jumped in Iraq the fourth week of April 2016. The Islamic State picked up its terrorist operations and executions during the week leading to the increase. There was also the usual fighting in areas where the government was carrying out security operations. The week’s spike may mean that in fact, IS is carrying out a spring offensive. There were 160 incidents during the fourth week of April. That compared to 124 the third week, 141 the second, and 144 the first. Attacks often go up and down throughout each month, and April 22-28 was one of those high points. Baghdad had ... more »
Pathocracy: It's Even Worse Than We Thought
Despite the highly touted success of the Paris Climate Agreement, corporate and government leaders have secretly colluded to all but ignore its already rather tepid recommendations. The planet will be permitted to burn as the plutocrats burn through all the extracted wealth of the planet. The capitalistic cancer will be allowed to consume the host, with no cares or worries that it, too, will inevitably die right along with its host. Thanks to a leak by Greenpeace International, a proposed transatlantic "trade" deal (TTIP) between the European Union and the United States reveals th... more »

No, Jim Keady Won't Sit Down And Shut Up
*by Tracy B Ann* Jim Keady is running for Congress in New Jersey's 3rd district and despite Chris Christie's "request" for him to sit down and shut up when he was protesting for Superstorm Sandy victims, Jim Keady just isn't that kind of guy. He doesn't sit down and shut up when people need help and aren't getting it. Chris Christie wasn't home in New Jersey enough to realize what the victims of Sandy needed. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment sent a letter to parents saying that if they do not vaccinate their kids they must register and exempt themselves via a state website. Offthegridnews.com reports: The department later said the letter should not have been released. The requirement would have been mandated by House Bill 1164, which died in a state legislative committee earlier this week. Currently, parents tell the local school – and not the state – ... more »

Warren Buffett is right: investment consultancy doesn't work
*Dupes pay lots of fees to dummies* Warren Buffett has been a classic value investor who was buying assets when they were undevalued and selling them later. This is obviously an activity that is good for the investor if he can really do it; and by this kind of a behavior, investors such as Buffett are actually doing an extremely helpful and essential service for the market – they are setting the price. This should be contrasted with the technical investors who are trying to spot the "momentum". These investors don't have a clue about the actual value of a company and they don't po... more »

Many feared that there would be another battle in Odessa, Ukraine yesterday similar to the one that took well over 50 lives on May 2, 2014. But in fact the day was dominated when up to 10,000 people peacefully gathered near the Trades Union Hall to place flowers and stand with the Mothers Committee in a make shift memorial while being blocked by huge numbers of local police, national security services and fully armed neo-Nazi Azov battalion members who have been incorporated into the newly formed 'National Guard' in Ukraine. DCCC Blowing The Trump Advantage With Incomprehensible Recruitment In Latino-Rich Districts
Trump has certainly been a catalyst for increased voter registration among Hispanics. A national poll of Hispanic voters indicates that Latino voter participation in November is going to break all records and that, overwhelmingly, it's because of animus towards Trump and the Republican Party. What Pete Wilson did for the California Republican Party in 1994 with his viciously anti-Hispanic Prop 187-- which basically made the GOP uncompetitive in most of California-- is what Trump is doing in congressional districts coast to coast. Quote of the Day: How to study history
Today’s quote comes from a brilliant new novel just out this week by the author of *The Frankenstein Candidate*. I won’t spoil the story for you, but this astute observation on studying history comes near the climax (and gives you just a taste of the novel’s quality): *“History isn’t an Arts subject. It’s an analytical one. “History, said Aristotle, is less interesting than fiction, because fiction tells you what might be, what could be, while history tells us what was. Was he right? For Accelerationism
What does radical politics in the 21st century look like? The internet has projected onto a wider canvas a rerun of America's culture wars. Partying hard since the late 1980s, postmodern self-theorised subject positions face off against self-theorised subject positions in battles for recognition and cultural space *vis a vis* each other rather than those who hold economic and political power. Related to this is the resurgence of a radically-tinged liberal feminism, a movement so varied and inchoate that prominent activists can challenge sexism and male violence one day, and collec... more »

Zodiac Killer: "I am Most Definitely Not Ted Cruz"
The mysterious Zodiac Killer who terrorized northern California in the late 60's to early 70's finally broke a more than four decades-long silence by proclaiming on social media that, "I am most definitely not Ted Cruz." The as yet captured serial killer took to his social media accounts to fiercely denounce the internet meme that the junior Senator from Texas and Donald Trump's chief rival for the Republican presidential nomination and the Zodiac are one because, he claims "it tarnishes the legacy of the Zodiac." What’s Up With WhatsApp In Brazil? Judge Orders Outage
WhatsApp has been blocked across Brazil for three days. A judge has ordered the Facebook-owned chat service to be suspended from the internet after the popular messaging app refused to hand over encrypted data to the Brazilian government. CNET reports: This isn’t the first time WhatsApp, which Facebook bought in 2014 for $19 billion, has clashed with authorities in Brazil. In December, a judge ordered the shutdown of WhatsApp from the country for two days after not complying with a criminal investigation, but the ruling was overturned the next day. Here are two excerpts that have particular resonance for this blog. Their lies have included the blatant falsehoods that Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria are illegal under international law; that the Isra... more »
