Looking for the Future: Tesla Motors S Sedan
Having an open eye for the future is one thing. Realizing dreams just another. The Californian 'Tesla Motors' appears to cultivate both. Their Tesla Roadster already is a success with several hundreds sold and a thousand or so in their books. Announced now the Tesla Motors Model S Sedan. What's so special? They are full electric cars. Tesla caught the eye of the world with its roadster, doing a speed of 60 mph (96 kmh) in less than 4 seconds! Faster than a Porsche. But its drawback? A battery load-time of... I better not write that here. Not so the future versions they claim. Their 5 seats S Sedan type requiring but 45 minutes after a journey of 400 miles (700 km).
By the way: that is expected to be possible in 2012...
Birthday: Nikola Tesla - the forgotten wizard
How would the world look today without him? Or better: how could this world have looked with him? When I hear his name a shiver goes along my spine. Free energy. Wasn't it greed unlimited already from mighty American capitalists that prevented it? The same whose companies today still play their part in finances and energy? Nikola Tesla will remain a mystery for most of us. Born July 10th, 1856, in Serbia he was to become a wizard, shaping the beginning of the 20th century. Alternating current, electric engines, telephony, radio-control, aerial transport were amongst his inventions he contributed to society. Yet, misunderstood for his cocktail of useful visions and eerie hallucinations, he died pennyless in a New York hotelroom in 1943.

Larger and smaller disasters with Ubuntu
Lately I was accused by a friend of partiality towards Ubuntu-Linux. "You always write good things about it", he claimed. Surprisingly enough I base my articles on live experiences, so exposing my novice difficulties and offering you solutions that I found. Like this article that I'll dedicate to those who believe that Ubuntu offers miracles. It doesn't, just like XP or OSX not always can stand up against the rigor of tests and failures. What about a blunt, stupid power-failure? What about a suddenly in-accessible hard drive? What about making back-ups? There are more themes on my list I would like to present in the future. Bear in mind that my situation may be different from yours. So my claims and solutions apply to me. The choice for Ubuntu is simple: it is one of the leading, free alternatives for Windows. Changing to it causes the least of hassle and it offers a very steep learning curve.
Working to remedy state's troubled waters
Anglers fishing the Potomac River in late June reported seeing hundreds of dead fish along a six-mile stretch of water. The report came after a weekend when four tournaments based at Smallwood State Park used the Potomac and Mattawoman Creek, a tributary.
We've had reports of fish kills after other large tournaments -- say 100 to 150 fish -- but nothing of this magnitude. Department of Natural Resources biologists found 600 dead largemouth bass, 247 catfish and some gizzard shad and bluegills.
Wind projects have been increasing sharply in recent years, rising last year by 8,545 megawatts of installed capacity nationally, according to the American Wind Energy Assn. But the trade group expects to see the first decline in new capacity since 2004 this year
