One Of The Biggest Grassroots Coalitions In The Country Just Endorsed Bernie-- But That Isn't A Story For Corporate Media
In the face of the terrible news yesterday-- Pelosi's weak, suspect and pathetic impeachment strategy and her backing for the NAFTA 2.0 sellout-- there was at least *something* that went right. Just days after Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement Action-- not anything like a Mayo Pete or Status Quo Joe kind of group-- announced their game-changing endorsement of Bernie, it turns out... well that was a sweet harbinger of something even bigger coming. And yesterday it came, although if you get your news from CNN, Comcast TV or other forms of corporate media, you saw no mention of... more »

Like Pistol Caliber Rifles? These 5 Are Among the Best on the Planet
*Kyle Mizokami* *Security, * Which made the cut? *Key point: *The explosion of interest in the modern sporting rifle, as well as the natural pace of industry innovation, has driven the firearms industry to field semi-automatic rifles in an increasingly broad number of configurations. One of the more unorthodox-looking weapons on the market is the Kel-Tec Sub-2000 carbine. Like the Cx4, the Sub-2000 looks like a pistol with an elongated barrel and shoulder stock, with a magazine well in the grip. It also features Picatinny accessory rails above and below the barrel. *These ‘Founders’ Aim to Improve How Schools Teach History and the Constitution* Many students and educators agree that the history of America’s founding is sorely lacking in high school curriculums across the country. The philosophy behind the founding and the United States Constitution often gets the boot when competing with STEM-focused subjects in today’s classroom. But one Florida organization is hoping to change that with an after-school program for high school students designed to fill in details absent from typical curriculums. “Learning specifically about the Constituti... more »

Could You Sink An Aircraft Carrier Without Using a Missile?
*Zachary Keck* *Security, Asia* [image: https://pictures.reuters.com/archive/USA-MILITARY-CARRIER-IRAN-RC2JED9L9G8W.html] China could. *Key Point:* China's new drone technology is still several years away. The Pentagon just released its annual report on China’s military power, which once again highlighted Beijing’s efforts to put American aircraft carriers at risk. Right on cue, China announced a major milestone for a system that might be a key component of its antiaccess/area-denial (A2/AD) strategy. This week, Chinese state media reported that the Caihong-T 4 (CH-T4), China’... more »
No Doubt: These 5 .45 Caliber Pistols Are The Best In The World
*Kyle Mizokami* *Security, * Which made the list? *Key point:* The .45 ACP has benefitted from increased performance. The .45 Automatic Colt Pistol round, or .45 ACP as it is commonly known, is fairly controversial. Invented in 1905 by prolific firearms designer John Moses Browning, the .45 ACP was the standard caliber of the Colt M1911 pistol, and remains so to this day. A heavy, subsonic bullet, a typical .45 ACP weighs twice as much as the 9mm Luger round and delivers a third more energy. Today, advances in bullet technology means a 9mm round can deliver as much energy as th... more »

When NATO Almost Caused World War III
*Warfare History Network* *History, * The 1983 Able Archer NATO practice took the world as close to a nuclear exchange as the Cuban Missile Crisis. *Key Point:* Sometimes military practices become too real. On the night of November 20, 1983, Armageddon went prime time. Over 100 million Americans tuned in to the ABC television network to watch the two-hour drama The Day After. Smith & Wesson 500: A .50 Caliber Rocket-launcher Disguised as a Gun?
*Kyle Mizokami* *Security, Americas* We explain. *Key point: *What the Model 500 is good for is as a sidearm for hunters chasing very large game, particularly in administering the *coup de grace* to dangerous, wounded game. In the world of firearms, there are plenty of boutique guns and calibers out there. Many are very powerful, but may have a very small market audience. Among the unique class of very, very big handguns, the Smith & Wesson 500 packs both popularity and power in a ridiculously lethal package, with a killing power equal to high-powered rifles . . . and a recoil ... more »

How Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Helps Us Understand the Meaning of Life
His work has wonderfully informed the commercial world which always had a desperate incentive to answer the questions of human motivation. That is why it has recieved huge attention there. It is just not unique to that world. It will also correctly inform the revitalized natural community emerging in out future as well. All that will ultimately inform the ideal progression of human sexuality and human success and even failure as well. Thus his work is truly foundational and thus profoundly useful. *[image: Indian Farmer Paints Tiger Stripes on Dog to Scare Away Monkeys Eating Crops]* This is definitely a superior scare crow. On the other hand, i would be surprised if the monkeys do not get wise to this gag, but you never know. Certainly the appearance of a stripped animal of this size will trigger all the right instincts. And yes, running like hell is the correct response. Instinct will take over and your automatic nervous system will remove you from danger. Recall that a real tiger can charge and run some serious distances. Montney Python’s Frac’ing Circus
What became obvious from this report is that the seismic activity is clearly unrelated. Let us leave it there because apologists will hardly give up because of facts. The inference though is that the fracking seismic threshold is simply too low and also avoids potential slip faults in which a small enough trigger event could have a much bigger outcome. This can be picked up in the drilling itself by sudden fluid loss and then subjected to a work around in which that section remains untouched. This analysis applies to all fracking provinces so this whole meme is a waste of time.... more »

Just a Bunch of Rust: Why Russia's Kiev-Class Aircraft Carriers Failed
*Kyle Mizokami* *History, Europe* [image: Reuters] Where did they end up? *Key point:* Four of these fixed-wing carriers were built. At the tail end of the Cold War, the Soviet Union produced a number of unique aircraft carriers. Known as the Kiev class, the carriers were the Soviets’ initial foray into the world of fixed wing naval aviation, and the only Soviet carriers to become fully operational. In July 1950, North Korea defeated the United States Army. This wasn’t supposed to happen. In the summer of 1950, America was still savoring the glow of absolute victory in World War II. There was the Soviet threat, to be sure, and a Communist bloc swelled by the massive addition of China in 1949. But the United States still had the bomb, and the B-29s to carry th... more »
